Streamlining Writing Assignments and Feedback

This lunch-and-learn session is designed for faculty in the School of Nursing.

We know assigning, assessing, and responding to student writing can be daunting, but all of these can be manageable—even enjoyable—even within a content-heavy course.

In this session, learn straightforward moves you can take to encourage “better writing” from your students. We’ll look at simple ways to streamline the assignments you hand out and focus your feedback on what really matters to you and your students. 

By the end of the session, participants should be able to:

1. articulate key principles for clear writing assignment design
2. identify focused assessment items tied to specific assignments 
3. Provide targeted feedback to support student writing development
